The Adams Residence is a comprehensive renovation of an existing one-story single-family home in La Quinta, California. The project was designed to modernize the home while improving its layout, finishes, energy performance, and overall functionality.

The scope of work included a full interior remodel, with new kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, updated finishes, replacement windows and doors, selective wall modifications, and upgrades to electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems. The design also included the conversion of an existing family room into a new bedroom, the addition of a new closet, bathroom improvements, built-in cabinetry, and a new decorative electric fireplace.

New low-E, double-glazed windows were incorporated throughout the residence, along with updated interior and exterior doors and bedroom egress windows. The project also included new recessed lighting, ceiling fans, exhaust fans, updated receptacles, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and plumbing modifications associated with the renovated kitchen and bathrooms.

The home’s existing swimming pool was retained as part of the renovation. The surrounding landscape was redesigned to better integrate the outdoor areas with the pool and create a stronger connection between the residence, landscaped areas, and outdoor living spaces. The landscape improvements were incorporated into the overall project scope to complement the renovated home while making better use of the existing pool and exterior environment.

Gerami Architectural Corp. provided the architectural design and permit documentation for the renovation. Our work included documenting existing conditions, developing the proposed floor plan, preparing demolition plans, coordinating new doors and windows, designing interior modifications, and preparing the electrical, plumbing, code, and construction drawings necessary for permitting. We also coordinated the architectural design with the required structural and Title 24 documentation.

The completed renovation creates a more functional and updated residence while largely maintaining the home’s original footprint. The project combines improved space planning, upgraded finishes, modern building systems, energy-efficient glazing, and coordinated structural improvements to give the existing home a renewed and more practical layout.
